MV BAHTERA Design & Construction Project

Background

As part of student project, we were assigned to design & construct a 8800 DWT ship connecting widely range of concepts and theory from owner requirements to hull girder strength.

The process come from preliminary Design, the step shown below:

Owner requirements -> Principle Dimensions (Optimization) -> Resistance Calculation -> Engine Requirements -> Weight & Displacement calculation -> Stability -> Freeboard -> Lines Plan -> General Arrangement

Hydrostatics check on Maxsurf Model

The construction design process comes from detailed design, shown below:

Load analysis and calculation -> Plate & Stiffener section modulus and size calculation -> Midship Section & Construction Profile -> Hull Girder Strength (longitudinal strength)

This process is followed to ensure the safety operation of ship and meet the owners requirements.

Results.

The output are lines plan, general arrangement, midship sections, and construction profile of MV BAHTERA alongwith detailed calcuation to solve design problems in the production.
