Fluid Analysis to find Pressure Coefficient

September 14, 2023

Background

In this project, we developed and analysed the pressure coefficient (Cp) on a fluid flow that flows in a 2 dimensional cylinder. The result then compared to analytical solutions that rigorously calculated

The project flows from figuring and calculating pressure coefficient analytically at certain points in the circle. Then the fluid analysis conducted using ANSYS software by defining material data, geometry, mesh, and setup the inlet and outlet of the surface. After defining the plane and the circle, the simulation is conducted.

We varied the element size, edge sizing, face sizing, inflation and number of layer and run the calculation to achieve the ideal results with analytical problems.

Results.

Theoretically we should obtain the margin of error between analytical calculation and simulation to be +- 2.00%, however due to lower resources of computer, we found average of analysis around 0.76%

Results & Analysis

From the analysis, we can define that the calculation can be even finer with much more meshes in global simulation, and focusing on local simulation. Also, due to invicid flow, Cp is similar upward and downward which create similar Cp at front and back
